NATIONAL PARKS OF JAPAN

Fuji-Hakone-Izu

PARKHighlights

In a land famous for its volcanos, Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park holds the most iconic and sacred peak of them all—Mt. Fuji. The symbol of Japan, Fuji is the tallest of Japan's mountains, and its beauty is renowned worldwide. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, it has influenced the culture of the Japanese people since time immemorial. The park also includes the Izu Peninsula and Izu Islands, extending south into the Pacific Ocean. They boast beautiful sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coastlines shaped by a volcanic heritage. The Fuji Volcanic Zone stretches from beyond the Izu Islands up to northern Honshu and defines the park with its varying climates and topography. Besides its stunning landscapes, the park is also rich in healing hot springs thanks to its volcanic foundation. The beautiful nature and numerous onsen help draw more visors annually than any other of Japan's National Parks.

From Tokyo Station, take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Mishima Station (70 min). From there, ride a train or bus to Fujinomiya 5th Station.
