NATIONAL PARKS OF JAPAN

Keramashoto

PARKHighlights

To the far south of mainland Japan and even further than mainland Okinawa, is Keramashoto National Park. While Japan may not be known as a tropical paradise, this National Park that spans the majority of the Kerama Archipelago’s 36 islands, deserves to be lauded as such. Its hilly islands are covered in lush greenery and unique tropical botany and its white beaches lead to some of the most pristine waters in the world. The crystal clear waters are home to a spectacular variety of marine life — from sea turtles to humpback whales and the rich ecosystem of coral reef. The endangered species are particularly taken care of with great care. Also very much at home in the National Park are the local people living there. Their eager friendliness and relaxed way of life are as much a part of Keramashoto's charm as its unspoiled and preserved nature. Whether it's watersports like diving and snorkeling, whale watching in winter, or witnessing a spectacular sunset, there are plenty of activities to do at Keramashoto. With great access from mainland Okinawa and moderate weather throughout the year, visit Keramshoto National Park to marvel at the natural treasures of Japan’s tropical paradise.
